Laser plates have come a long way and now appear in many forms. Some are
sold under different labels, and seem to be the same, while others may be
sold under the same name, and seem to be different every time. This is mainly
because even though there are several vendors using several names, there
are only three major manufacturers making the product. We have followed
the evolution of the product from the very first version to appear on the
market. We have hands on experience, imaging and running many types on various
presses, for all types of print jobs. When you buy plates from us, you get
knowledgeable product support.
For years, the best Polyester Plate System was the Xante PlateMaker, and the Myriad 2 Plates. This combination works very well, once properly installed, and with adequate operator training. The disadvantage, if any, has been the high cost of the system, and the limited ability of Xante Corporation to provide the required training. Several companies began offering similar products which could be imaged on other less expensive laser printers, and a large number of HP tabloid Printers became low cost platemakers. The plate material for this purpose was produced with a higher toner adhesion coating. This helped to make up for the lack of adequate fuser temperatures for imaging plates. The negative side effect of this version is the tendency of this coating to attract more background toner scatter. Hence, the introduction of various cleaning solutions to deal with that. We now have sifted out the crap, and stocked up on the very best plate which gives the best features for each type of imaging device. This is why we call it the Universal Laser Plate. This new plate looks very much like a Myriad Plate, but it has a smoother surface, and you can image either side. We don't suggest running both sides, although some people do, but the second side saves wasting a plate if you notice a mistake! These new Universal Plates work extremely well on Xante Platemakers, and are also fine for HP 5000 and HP 5100 series printers. Dealers interested in providing this plate are welcome to give us a call. |
